Rome 1984
Roman painter Alessandra Carloni, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 2008 with Celestino Ferraresi and from “La Sapienza” University 2013 in Contemporary Art History.
Since 2009 Alessandra Carloni has been exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions in galleries in Rome, Milan, Naples, Trieste and Florence, winning several prizes and competitions. During this time, Carloni also ventured into the world of Urban art, her street art commission by communities across Europe and winning prizes and awards for murals in Rome, Milan, Florence, Turin, Marsala, Sulmona, Savona, Venice, Rovigo, Luxembourg and Caserta.
In Carloni's work the theme is often that of the impossible journey, her characters floating astride fantastic animals or looking out over the cities from suspended silos.
Her acrylic and oil paintings are characterized by their rich use of colour and rigid lines with a style that ranges from figuration to surrealism. Her subjects, drawn from literary fables, imaginative portraits, and dreamlike scenes of nature are often a reinterpretation of famous novels, most notably Melville’s Moby Dick, The Baron in the Trees by Calvino and Collodi’s Pinocchio. Her works have been exhibited worldwide including institutions such as the Florio Cellars in Marsala and the Polo del '900 in Turin. In 2019 after a solo exhibition in the city of Olgiate Comasco, the artists left the mural "Pinocchio and the Whale" as a gift to the province of Como.
Today Alessandra Carloni is one of the best-known Italian street artists and boasts a growing following worldwide.
