Tuscan artist Riccardo Ruberti is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and a regular guest lecturer at the Trossi Uberti Art Academy of Livorno. The artist has held acclaimed solo and group exhibitions throughout Italy and abroad, most notably in Rome, Abu Dhabi, Livorno and Amsterdam.
Ruberti’s works are almost always large in size, with a wide aesthetic and iconographic scope in which the visitor's eye is able to wander an infinite background of skies elevated by the artist to the role of absolute protagonist.
On display are 3 canvases from his acclaimed series "Celestial Navigation" which was begun in 2012 and first exhibited in Monte Carlo in 2014. Here the artist explores the dynamics of ‘the journey’ represented by a series of small and colourful hot air balloons, aerostatic balloons, flying machines and hang gliders alluding to a human presence that takes second place to the celestial scenarios that absolutely dominate the space of the canvas. The terrestrial landscape serves purely an anchor for the composition, often an island or a strip of frozen and inhospitable land, where his subjects wander, humbled and betrayed in their illusion of greatness.
Many of his works are currently on display in significant public and private collections including the Suwaidi in Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies in Rome, the Heineken collection of Amsterdam and the English Collection, London.
