Roman artist Michelino Iorizzo is a graduate of both the V Liceo Artistico and the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and in 2010, won the "Techniques and Technology of Drawing" contest, organized by the Academy of Fine Arts.
Gifted with a versatile natural talent that ranges from painting, to sculpture, to ceramics and the technique of ancient icons, Michelino Iorizzo can undoubtedly be considered among the most innovative painters of the moment, particularly with regards his explorations into female portraiture. In these critically acclaimed portraits of young women, often born from his imagination or the fleeting memory of a face in a crowd, Iorizzo avoids the rendering of detail, seemingly entrusting everything to casual brushstrokes and giving his subjects the effect of a face immortalized in a sudden expression that is at once both mysterious and dreamlike.
Widely exhibited across Italy and abroad, his works can be found in permanent collections and exhibitions in museums throughout Asia and Europe including the Museum of Modern Art, Hubei, China, The Church of San Carlo, Cortona, The Egyptian Embassy, Rome and La Reggia di Caserta and his works have also been featured in a number of successful films and TV series such as Napoli Velata by Ferzan Özpetek and more recently, Romanzo Criminale by Stefano Sollima.
